I began my musical journey back when I was living on the far west end of Madison Wisconsin. At that time, radio stations weren’t formulaic.  You could hear everyone from the Beatles and Rolling Stones, to James Brown, Simon & Garfunkel, the Supremes, the Spencer Davis Group without once having to flip the dial. Stations were independent and in those days the disc jockeys chose the tunes that they wanted to play. My sister and I used to sit in the kitchen and listen to all the music being broadcast from WISM on our mom’s turquoise AM radio.
